HANDMADE CANDLES

All our candles are unique and beautifully hand-crafted. Our beeswax candles are made from 100% pure beeswax sourced from rural forest bee-keepers in Moçambique.

Beeswax is a natural and luxury wax with a beautiful aroma and our elegant hand-dipped traditional dinner candles are made with great care by women in the rural areas of Sofala Province in Moçambique.

Our candle making venture is part of a much wider programme of working with rural bee-keepers with the aim of enhancing their income generating options and standards of living. By introducing international standards of harvesting and processing of the honey and wax a much wider market for the wax and honey becomes available to them. At the same time the option to make quality value added products is created.

This year, together with a local non-profit organisation that works closely with the bee-keepers in Sofala, we have led training programmes on methods to improve the quality of their products.

We are also able to consider making custom designs such as the candles with the AIDS ribbons below, made for a health organisation working in Moçambique promoting AIDS awarenss.

HAND-DIPPED BEESWAX DINNER CANDLES

These are traditional and elegant hand-dipped dinner candles in two sizes - 12 inch and 6 inch sold in pairs. Stunning for a stylish dinner table, weddings, special occasions or just a romantic dinner for two at home. And they are environmentally friendly too!

FLOATING CANDLES

Placed in a bowl of water as a centrepiece, in a small vase at the place of each diner, in a bath, or on a pond or swimming pool for a garden party, these floating candles always create atmosphere.

These candles are wonderfully wind-resistent when placed individually inside a small glass bowl.

They are available in the following shapes:

  • Star-shaped
  • Flower-shaped
  • Heart-shaped

They are all available in one of three scents:

  • Vanilla for Warmth and Welcoming
  • Jasmine for Relaxing
  • Citronella, Lemon Grass and Tea Tree Essential Oils, for Insect Repellent

And one of five colours

  • White
  • Pale Blue
  • Pale Pink
  • Lemon
  • Vibrant Orange

DECORATED CANDLES

Our decorated candles are available in a combination of the colours and scents above. Plus an additional design using a mix of beeswax and recycled wax.

Each is decorated with dried flowers and/or sea shells. Some are stand-alone and others are made to fit our candle holders. The base of the candle holder is made from off-cuts of the beautiful Moçambican hardwood and each one is unique.

  

COCONUT SHELL CANDLES

The coconut shells are made using local coconut shells. They are cut, polished with sandpaper and filled with recycled wax.

Scents and available are the same as above:

  • Vanilla for Warmth and Welcoming
  • Jasmine for Relaxing
  • Citronella, Lemon Grass and Tea Tree Oil for Insect Repellent

Colours available are:

  • White
  • Lemon
  • Pale Pink
